Btw your profile gives me the impression that you value connection and community, so I thought you might be interested in this.
I'm running a small experiment. It consists of two people sending each other one short daily message about how they're doing, the weather, or their day. Examples: "M: I am well" or "M: Long day today."
And for days they don’t know what to say or just mentally tired, they can just write, M: I am okay.
The messages don't need a reply. They start with "M:" to show it's a check-in, not a conversation starter.
We believe that checking up on each other daily is good for us and will make people feel more connected. But we want to get the evidence, to actually see if it changes how we feel, if we grow closer, if life feels better.
I'm asking if you could join and try it with me for a month as a start. We will use Substack messages.
I do value connection; however, it would appear too much like carrying sand to a beach or something, as I’m already doing this somewhere else. So I would not change the way I feel.
There are many others around here who‘d possibly show much better evidence for such an experiment.
(Also, I’m looking for LinkedIn posts of others whom I only know from a distance so I see selfies and stories which lets me know they are fine.)
Doing nothing now.
I think.
Maybe.
I don't know
This kept me on my toes!
This made me want to slow down and notice the small connections around me. Thank you for sharing
